I’m so excited!!! I had my first fashion styling internship last Friday for a wardrobe rental consultant. What’s even more awesome is that the clothing that I helped to choose aired on Saturday Night Live this past Saturday (December 5th). It was part of the shop background for a skit with Blake Lively!
I dragged myself out of bed at 5:30 am to make it to midtown at 7am sharp. A group of interns and I helped to pull outfits from a showroom filled with racks of clothing, shoes, and accessories. The studio was really well organized with 2 tier garment racks. We had to climb step ladders to reach the 2nd level. All the accessories were in labeled trays (e.g. pearls, rhinestones, etc). The owner of the showroom was really cool and laid back. She had to email pictures to SNL by 9 am and she seemed so calm and collected. The SNL people called midway also to change theme from Marc Jacobs-like to Hoochie Mama-like. In the end, the clothing that showed up on tv was more neutral. But I recognized some of the gold toned dresses and black dresses. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. We had to keep in mind how it would look on television…so super flashy or busy looking dresses were a no. Anyhow, the experience was enjoyable and I would love to do it again.
