Organic Beauty: FGI Presents Josie Maran, Beauty On Beauty

As a fan of organic beauty, I was excited to attend a special evening with Josie Maran presented by Fashion Group International at Space 530 in NYC.  The former supermodel was effervescent and radiated positive energy while telling us about her journey of achieving her beautiful dreams from becoming a Maybelline girl to becoming the founder of Josie Maran Cosmetics, a luxury beauty brand with products made with fair trade argan oil.

As a child, Josie was enchanted by Christy Turlington in a Maybelline commercial.  She would pray daily to be like her until Josie’s dream came true.  She became a model at age 12 and in 1999 got a 10 year contract to be a Maybelline model. While working as a model, Josie explored the idea of creating nontoxic beauty products made from healthy ingredients.  The idea was totally radical at the time.  Many investors who she spoke to did not understand her plan.  But Josie did not give up and invested a lot of her own money into her business.  In 2007, Josie started Josie Maran Cosmetics made with 100% Argan oil grown and harvested by co-ops of Moroccan women.

Now Josie Maran Cosmetics is a global company that has won legions of fans.  Josie was just awarded the Eco-Award a few days ago from the UN and Fashion for Development Group.  It’s truly inspiring how Josie turned her dream into reality.  Josie Maran Cosmetics is changing the world into a better place by making natural beauty products to help women feel more beautiful, but also helps woman feel empowered and part of the global effort to sustain our environment.
